Nursing Assistant Course

This course prepares a person to work as a nursing assistant. The students' time will be divided between classroom instruction, laboratory time and supervised experience in hospital and/or nursing home settings. After coursework is complete students will take an American Red Cross exam and submit to the Wyoming State Board of Nursing for certification. Students who successfully complete the certification process will become certified and can work as a CNA.  Additional cost not paid at time of registration or to CCHEC are:  Nurse Aid Competency Exam, $98.00, Licensing Fee, $120.00. White scrubs are needed for clinicals, and a watch with a sweep second hand is required. Other requirements are: you must be at least 16 years of age to be allowed to participate in clinicals, you must have proof of a current TB test (less than one year old) prior to the start of class, and you must have proof of 2 MMR vaccinations, or proof of immunity, prior to the start of class.  It is recommended that you have a current (less that 10 years old) tetanus shot and have begun the hepatitis B series prior to start of clinicals. Public Health or your physician can administer the TB test and required immunizations.
